Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, composer and multi-instrumentalist Stacey Yerofeyeva was immersed in Ukrainian folk music since an early age. Her late father, Kost' Yerofeyev, was the lead singer of the group Ruthenia, whose music was highly influential during the independence movement in the late 1980's in Kyiv.
After immigrating to Toronto in 2001, Stacey decided to pursue music professionally, completing her classical studies at the Royal Conservatory, and contemporary piano studies at Humber College in Toronto. It was here that she met a handful of colleagues, who shared Stacey's vision in joining the two worlds of Ukrainian folk and contemporary jazz music. These are some of the most talented young musicians in Toronto, including bassist and co-arranger Mark Rynkun, who's compositions have already been featured on Jazz FM, nylon-string guitarist Bart Milczarczyk, and electric guitarist Patrick O'Reilley.
DoVira's second single 'Oy Chiy To Kin' was set to be released on November 1st, 2012. Their debut studio album, set to be released in 2013 is currently in the works. This multi-media album will be accompanied by video footage from the recording sessions.
