ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Drastics first full-length album, Premonition, was released in 2005 to great expectation on Chicago's JumpUp! Records. The album featured guest vocalists Craig Akira Fujita (Pressure Cooker, Joint Chiefs, 10 ft Ganja Plant), King Django, Dr. Ring Ding as well as several local underground talents. The record's raw dirty sound quickly solidified their authenticity while their innovative approach to the music set them apart as leaders of a new school of reggae-based music.

"... musically inventive and steeped in a variety of styles ... know how to use horns and melodica to dub it up real fine"
Beat Magazine

"I had kind of a feeling about The Drastics' Premonition, and sure enough, I like it a lot."
JahWorks.Org

"The Drastics' sound is catchy and danceable, yet very sensual--more than enough to put you in the mood to dance and shake your hips from beginning to end ... "
The Depaulia

This is the real deal
Drastics - Premonition
Chicago DUB massive, released on Jump Up Records in early 2005. Chicago has a fairly vibrant ska/reggae scene with such institutions as Deals Gone Bad (recently celebrating their 10th year) and Chuck Wren's work with his radio show (Sundays on WLUW 88.7 FM). As far as Chicago Dub goes, this might be the only game in town. The Drastics bring it all, riddims locked in with spacey dubs reaching toward the nether regions of the universe. They even pull it off live with one of them doing the dubs on the fly while the rest plow through these instrumental soulful reggae tunes. The debut, Premonition, features 8 originals as well as two tunes by Tommy McCook (one time member of the Skatalites), and also has guest toasters including Dr. Ring Ding (from Germany) and King Django. This is the real deal, and in my opinion, as good as this gets.
