2003 is the year when Drawn makes their appearance in Puebla’s music scene in Mexico. The line-up consisting of 5 teenagers who set out to make honest music which had both interesting content and form; Alvaro, Blas, Calva, Gaber & Roxy, at ages 15, 16 and 17 decided to compose and interpret their own songs.
Not long after, the band got to have a decent amount of songs and even developed an important underground following, allowing it to eventually go into a studio to record what would eventually become their first album. While production and mixing on the album was taking place, the band’s popularity kept on rising due to their commitment to being constantly playing in many different venues.
During this time Drawn’s had the pleasure of playing with bands having national and international reputation, such as Molotov, La Maldita Vecindad, Panteón Rococó, Austin TV, Chikita Violenta!, Nortec & Los Dynamites among many others, making the group an important figure in the mexican independent rock music scene.
On January 2007 most of these efforts came to fruition with the launching of Drawn’s debut album “Revolver”, recorded in Puebla, México and mixed & mastered by both the band and the lead singer of Jaque.Reina in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The record is now for sale on iTunes and CDBaby and other different companies on the web, as well as in some stores in Mexico. It will also be made available through the band’s website in the near future.
After playing in different gigs and festivals around Mexico, on September 2007 Drawn recorded a new demo called “Live Sessions ‘07” with songs that might be featured in their 2nd album, the material showing a stronger and more solid sound due both to their constant touring and music studies. This new sound has had great acceptance with the band’s audience both nationally and internationally through their MySpace account.
As an independent band, Drawn’s caught the eye of different media such as SWITCH rock magazine and has been reviewed favourably by Rolling Stone Mexico, and Telehit Music Channel has labeled the band an act to follow; the band’s also had rotation on the two most important independent music radio stations in the country, Radio Ibero 90.9 and Reactor 105.1
On December 2007 Drawn will shoot their first music video for the song “Solitario” and beginning 2008 will embark on their first tour around Spain and other European countries, besides working on what will be the as of yet untitled follow-up to “Revolver”.
