Dream Sequence Gunmen (DSG) is the collaborative duo of Nazim Chambi and Warren Russell. We’ve teamed up with the amazing voice of DeVé Sherielle and stepped outside our usual neoclassically-tinged progressive rock comfort zone here to offer you our cover version of the Joan Baez classic “Diamonds and Rust.” We’ve updated the lyrics a little to reflect some changes in society but we hope that the lyrics still speak plainly of the ambivalence surrounding the reappearance of an old flame, even if only as a voice on the line, and that the music is reflective of the inner turmoil that ensues.
DeVé Sherielle majored in Vocal Performance at Old Dominion University and has successfully set about employing her vocal talents in operatic and theatrical settings as well as recording and performing with several local musical groups. This eclectic performer intends move to NYC someday in order to pursue her musical goals and has her sights set on Broadway but is in the midst of relocating to Atlanta concurrent with the release of this song.
Guitarist Nazim Chambi has cut an individualistic musical swath through his mainstream peers since graduating from the Los Angeles Musician’s Institute in 2010. A frequent feature of label showcases and the subject of numerous articles in various music industry magazines, Nazim has toured across the US with singer Andrea Meli as classic rock and blues-driven ME&U since the group’s Hollywood inception in 2007. Nazim Chambi is endorsed by Godin Guitars and Gator Cases.
