ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Dreamshade is a melodic death metal band founded by Fella (guitar) and Rocco (guitar) in 2006. Rawi joins the project very soon as keyboard player. The first compositions are given to Ivan (bass guitar) who finds them really interesting and decides to become part of the band (quitting other ongoing projects). It then takes more than a year to find a right voice: Iko finally appears. Even harder is the search for a good drummer: Jerome (drums) joins the band only in august 2007, and the now complete band starts to perform concerts, all of wich give a really positive feedback. After less than a year Jerome leaves the group to dedicate more time to his family and work. In March-April 2008 the band has a lot of material but no more drummer. They contact Sera (Roots Of Death) to record drums as a sessionman for their first EP. Working on their music he notices the abilities of the band and the maturity of the songs, and decides to join as a full band member. In April 2008 begins the recording of the first EP, wich is now almost finished and will be ready soon. In July 2008 Dreamshade play at Metalcamp festival 2008 in Slovenia, receiving after the show important positive feedbacks and promotion offers, wich will be really important for the future.

Something's going on in Switzerland. We're not sure what's getting under the skin of the guitar-wielding dudes over there, but one thing is clear: the fed-up youth keep channeling their ire and rage into devastating metal, and it's becoming much more than your run-of-the-mill "creative outlet." Case in point: this six-piece, dual guitar-with-a-side-of-keyboards death/black metal outfit, who have spent the last few years building towards this, their debut EP. While the term "melodic death metal" may seem oxymoronic to some and blasphemous to others, it's a subgenre of metal that's shown considerable staying power through the years. These guys show us why, slamming down complex riffs then pulling back (just barely), sprawling the two guitars over breakdowns that are prime spots for the dark ambiance of the keyboards to prove why they're such an integral part of the proceedings. All five of the tracks here are solid, but make sure you stick around for the duration of the closer, "Venom of Life," which showcases the group's dexterity and intensity with some really impressive guitar work.
