ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Herbert Silverstein is a Medical Doctor. A renowned ear surgeon, inventor and philanthropist. Founder of the Silverstein Institute and the Ear Research Foundation. Avid snow skier. Athlete.
However, this CD has been recorded to introduce you to Herbert Silverstein, The Jazz Artist.

In the early 1980s, one of Herb’s sons introduced him to a recording of Chick Corea. This began a long love affair with jazz music. Herb began learning jazz piano and playing this music with friends and colleagues… and in 1985, he began writing songs. His keen and analytical mind grasped the chord changes and patterns necessary to make music, but his creative heart and soul carried that knowledge to create some remarkable and beautiful and memorable melodies.

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in April of 2012, several hundred people gathered to enjoy the music of Dr. Herbert Silverstein, performed by several of Herb’s friends who happen to be some of Florida’s finest jazz musicians. The setting was an open ballroom overlooking the bay at the Longboat Key Club and the music flowed through that room like a melodic tide. You’ll enjoy these wonderful jazz compositions from this gifted composer, played by skilled musicians and hosted
by legendary jazz radio announcer, Bob Seymour.

Featured on this recording are beautiful and engaging melodies framed perfectly with reflective moods and instrumentation and the skilled musicianship of Richard Drexler, LaRue Nickelson, Jack Wilkins, Michael Royal, Mark Neuenschwander and Rich MacDonald.

You'll enjoy this CD and keep coming back for the emotion of the tunes "Jack Remembered" and "Awesome Autumn" and the upbeat, lilting swing of "French Wedding" and "BeachWalker," along with many other wonderful musical moments on this great album.
