When I started this project I wanted to do some of the cover tunes we have been doing live, but the question was “how do we do these tunes that have already been done to perfection by the original artist, what or how would I arrange them to be different. What became clear is that all the music on Smooth Jazz stations were highly produced which for us would be impractical; this is why we created a different category for what we do (Urban Organic Jazz). Actually we’re not creating anything just going back to our jazz roots and being true to the time honored tradition of an Ensemble Sextet without the aid of loops or samples, so when you listen to this CD you will hear just us, no augmentation other then a little reverb and EQ. I hope you enjoy our traditional jazz approach to some of your favorite Smooth Jazz Classics.
Many, many thanks to John, Chris, Richard, Jimmy and Michael for their unwavering confidence in this project. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to Justin Guarini who did an amazing job on “What You Won’t Do For Love” truly one of the best vocalists in the business. I want to personally thank Michael Tozzi for his support and encouragement over the last year. Thanks to Rick Denzien at Slot One Studios for also “getting it”, that is to say my desire to go back to a simpler time. I would also like to thank Paul Fine of Fine Design Associates for his generous help, support and encouragement for this project. I want to dedicate this effort to Karen, Alia, Reina, Kira, Lola and Justin the best family in the world. God Bless them and God Bless all of you for your support. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
