Album Notes
Duende Camarón was founded by the brothers
Mario Cesar Oretea and Jose Oretea (Bolivia) in 1998.

They are based in DC since 2000

Two CD recorded.

In 2000 they moved to US and since then they are performing in different clubs and events in DC area.
Duende Camarón has performed in several venues of the Smithsonian, Carter barron in DC, constitution hall.

The music evolves strumming rhythmic flamenco guitars with singing. The style is pretty much influenced by the flamenco and the rumba artists like Gipsy –Kings and also has influences from Latin music.

The name has a very important meaning to the flamenco world because, DUENDE is a especial phenomenon in which a Flamenco musician can give the best of his or her art with a lot of passion, all this happens thanks to the magic of the flamenco spirit (Duende), and Camaron is the nick name of Jose Monje Cruz one of the most important Flamenco singers of the contemporary times who died in 1992.

I cannot put to words, you must listen to this cd to know for yourself the beauty that is within.

Gus McCrae

Duende Camaron - King Street
This CD doesn't come close to what this group is actually like in person.

Playing for a number of years at Las Tapas in Old Town Alexandria, VA, I followed them to Tutto Bene's in the Ballston area of Arlington, VA where on Friday nights, they play their incredible rumba Gypsy flamenco music with all the great rhythm guitar work of Jose and the phenomenal lead guitar work of Cesar.

People love to come and listen to their music but the majority just can't help but stay on the dance floor.

If you like or love the Gypsy Kings, Chico & The Gypsies, Gipsyland, Johannes Linstead, Armik, Behzad, and many others, you'll love this group.

Jose brings the great rhythm of his guitar work while Cesar plays the lead flamenco guitar, outperforming the lead guitarist for Gypsy Kings and Chico & The Gypsies.

They're just phenomenal to hear and watch.
