ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Scottish harp and song duo The Duplets are Gillian Fleetwood and Fraya Thomsen. They have been carving names for themselves as \"two of Scotland\'s finest exponents of the Scottish harp\" through their captivating live shows. Intricately woven melodies nestle into luscious harmonies, rich chords, cascading ornaments and even stonking bass lines to create a sound which is both unique and engaging. Add to this the warmth and intimacy of Gillian\'s voice drawing the listener in like a storyteller and you get an album as colourful and enduring as a tapestry.

Celtic Connections 2008 saw The Duplets working with luminaries Corrina Hewat, Mary Macmaster and Patsy Seddon where they were spotlighted as part of the world premier of Harp Heaven: “Twelve of the most amazing harpists on the planet ensured those fortunate enough to be in the crowd left this rare Celtic Connections concert certain they had witnessed a small slice of Paradise. ***** ” The Scotsman.

With acclaimed producer Duncan Lyall (Box Club) at the helm The Duplets debut album -Tree of Strings- hosts an array of stars from the Scottish Traditional music world including Gabe McVarish (Daimh), Donald Hay (The Unusual Suspects) and Tam \"the banjo\" Kinsella (The Squashy Bag Dance Band). In bringing these forces together The Duplets have shaped a timely musical expression set to become a classic.
