A rather unique vocalist that combines Funk, Soul, Electronica, Hip Hop and the epic story of a super heroine is Dusky Diana. Although many groups are combining classic soul with contemporary Hip Hop, she is set apart from the rest through the use of comic book mythology to support her musical exploration. Ms. Dusky is “another kind of super hero” whose lyrics swing from English to Spanish, sung to rapped, and whose performances are often episodic and given in full super hero regalia.
The invention of such an unusual project is due largely to the varying disciplines involved. Musically, she is backed by the two producers Mo'Czar and Goersch. Ms. Dusky's roots in Latin music and education in musical theater combine well with Mo’czar's great affection for the golden Funk, Soul, and Doo Wop era and Goersch's adore for electronic sounds. All are members of the Hip Hop collective Community Education, who has gained recognition recently with their debut LP The South Bronx Sessions.
For Dusky Diana, the 2008 debut of Incredible Misadventures has captured the attention of Germany, Ecuador, and Canada, as well as independent radio in the US. She is currently performing in Germany and developing the webisode series Kartika, set to be launched in 2010.
