Nineteen tracks deep, this new album by Dutty Devioso aka Lil D.V.S. is not your average US rap album. For a start it has no major guest appearances or recognisable producer credits. He isn’t claiming to be affiliated with any major US crew or label, instead he has just grinded and spent time to make and create a superb long-player which in my opinion is the best US independent release of the year so far. He remains humble throughout and on tracks such as “Dis Is Life” and “Real Talk” you really feel
like you know the man well. Bangers such as “Walk Like A G” and “Up The Ante” show he can rock any crowd with up-tempo tracks too. Make sure you get a copy of this album. 4 outta 5

Hailing from the Dirty-South (Louisiana to be exact) the home of such rap greats as Outkast, Goodie Mob, Master P, Juvenile and Lil Wayne, as well as the founders of the infamous ‘bounce\' sound (N.O.), Dutty Devioso has dropped an album that deserves to get mentioned in the same sentence as those names. Honestly from the production, to the concepts to the whole vibe and sound of ‘Up The Ante\' it just hits hard everytime. Tracks such as ‘Easy\', ‘Up The Ante\', ‘I\'ll Give U Dat\', ‘Real Talk\' and ‘Fu*k Y\'All\' show he can go hard and is not an emcee to mess with, but tracks like ‘Dis Is Life\' show great diverseness. The vocals on the hook are so sweet really complimenting the song so well, as Dutty Devioso spits such as ‘I ain\'t good at basketball, and I can\'t go to selling/So tell what I\'m supposed to do when there ain\'t nobody helpin\'. This album is about real talk and you get that because of the way he sincerely puts his life on wax. It\'s a great album and I think this artist has so much more to give. The futures bright, the futures Dutty Devioso.

If you like your music dirty then this is for you. It’s not even dirty, it’s dutty! Yeh, that’s

right this album is something rather special. As a rapper his delivery is really clear and he spits each word and syllable with pin point precision. Killer tracks for me included
the hard-hitting title track ‘Up The Ante’, the bouncing two-step anthem “Two Step” featuring Kid-O. Loving “F**k Y’all” featuring Kingpin Slim and bassline on “Overnight Celeb” is awesome. Other cuts worth mentioning have to be the huge radio joint “Dis Is Life” and the humorous “Googa Mooga”. On the whole the album is as good as
anything your gonna pick up on Cash Money as well as other top labels in the south. This is a great long-player and is without a doubt definitely worth a purchase.

Ive been a big fan of Dutty Devioso for a few years now he used to go by the name Lil Dvs he's coming out of Baton Rouge and this album is hotter than fish grease 19 tracks deep Dutty has definitely up the ante on this release all the beats are big studio quality and Dutty's bars, delivery and story telling ability will test anyone out there at the moment, some of my favourite tracks on here are Fish Grease, Walk Like a G, Real Talk, and Dis is Life which features the soulful vocals of V.Skills. Dutty touches on a lot of real life situations on this release as well as having some quality club bangers on here.
You definitely need this album in your life so log onto the websites check it out for yourselves and if you like what you here you can also buy all his other albums from his myspace page.
