Album Notes
Other Realm Music is proud to present Dylan Patrick Smith's long awaited sophomore solo piano CD, "The Song Of The Mist." The true depths of pianistic expression have been reached with this 12 track lyrical album. Following in the footsteps of his first successful release from 2007, "Poetry," Dylan has embraced a more personable and intimate style of playing and composing. As typical with his style of composing, almost all of the tracks represented on this album were improvised with very little thought before the recording process began. Only one selection, "Song For Jessica," was already written and performed before. Dylan's ability to take an idea and develop a lyrical landscape on the piano showcases his love for the instrument and what sounds can emerge.

"The Song Of The Mist" began almost 13 years ago when he recorded several improvised tracks onto a 60 minute cassette tape in his bedroom on a Korg digital synth. Over the years these pieces were lost and the original outline of the album was never to be found again. Dylan was determined to recreate a very personal journey through brand new music and over the past 6 months started his ideas and made it a goal to have his own vision of releasing something that was unheard for 13 years - even if the tracks were new.

Find a quiet, comfortable spot to let your mind relax and put your entire mental state at ease and listen to the lyricism, the poetic expression, and very emotional balance of tones and harmonies that come though on Dylan's second and probably most painstakingly personal album he's released.
