ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Eddie Graf has been described by musicians, bandleaders and music producers as one of North America\'s most gifted and versatile muscial arrangers, as well as a fine clarinet/sax player and bandleader. He came from a musical family during the great depression years and began writing arrangements for local groups at an early age, continuing on during the Second World War, entertaining troops overseas. During the Big Band Era he was influenced, as a clarinetist by the works of Artie Shaw and Benny Goodman, and many of the great arrangers from radio, T.V. and stage, as well as the works of the great classical composers, some of his favorites to include Bach, Mozart, Rachmaninoff and Debussy. This compilation encompasses some of the best writing for his own band, the Eddie Graf Orchestra from 1974 to the present day, taking the works of such notables as Benny Goodman, Glen Miller, Duke Ellington and Cole Porter and spinning it with unprecedented imagination and musical flair. The result is some of the most beautiful, playful and cheerful music you will ever hear in this genre. As a bandleader, his work has touched such performers as Jack Jones, Rich Little, Petula Clark, Dinah Christie, Bob Hope and even Frank Sinatra. His arrangements and recordings have been featured on countless T.V., Radio and Stage Productions accross North America and is making inroads overseas. He has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for the Toronto Musician\'s Association, American Federation of Musicians, as well as Musician of the Year, Canadian Band Association. To know Eddie personally, you would agree that he is a warm, modest and thoughtful toward others, ans possesses a wit and artful eye, explaining his boundless capacity for ideas, which tranlate to music which is truly pleasing every time you hear it.

Wow! Great stuff. Arrangements, artists, recording all excellent! Only criticism: several tracks only half normal length. What was wrong, guys? Tired? That is the only fault of this eotherwise excellent cd. 43 minutes is pretty pathetic nowadays!! Which, sadly, means this cd is not good value for money. Sorry - maybe you\'ll do another one of a respectable length... Ciao!

Fantastic Album!
This is a fantastic collection, fantastic arrangements, musicians and the master himself! It is packed with the most musical and imaginative scoring and playing I've heard, and I listen to everything I can get my hands on.
