This second CD from singer-songwriter, guitarist Edward Dee is an inviting, upbeat collection (journey) of creativity in life.
The subject is all about relationships... from that special someone, to relationship with life, over to relationship with yourself, and the spiritual essence of being human. Questions of life are played within a rhythmic and melodic inventiveness that is original, bright, and full of sensory fulfillment. Lyrics inspire, inquire, wonder, romance, and awaken. Even a touch of the whimsical... Edward Dee's guitar solo style has often been compared to that of the great Eric Clapton. Nice!
More about the Songs...
1. Baby Bring Your Bongos
The CD starts with this bright, upbeat and infectious Caribbean dance tune inviting all to come and party. You won’t be able to get it out of your head!
2. Every Waking Moment
Inspiring... Empowering... A call to become all that you were created to be... A call to bring your "scene to all to the play." This is a song that came directly from a conversation from God. It is an expression of why I write songs. It comes from the deepest place I have been granted access to. I send it out to the world with Love. A call to the human spirit…to make a difference.
3. That Side Of The Street
The title cut is a song about a girl (woman) who can’t stay out of the personal affairs of others. A story of a small way to live on “that side of the street”. A call to stay and live on your own "side of the street." This one will change the way you view life.
My report cards always said “Ed daydreams in class”. I’ve grown to call myself a professional daydreamer. Absurdly, or seriously, I would like us all to explore what creative daydreaming is and what is possible when we create from there. This song is for all the people who were told sometime in their life that they'll never be that good. They were wrong!
5. Romance In The Dark
I found this 50s blues (Lil Green cover) song 25 years ago and always loved its simplicity and romantic lyrics. A sweet, sweet example of a day gone by and what the music was like when two people in love danced and romanced in the dark. A good choice for a first dance wedding song or a song to softly sing in your sweetheart's ear while you slow dance "in the dark."
6. Magic Embrace
A love song about right here, right now...in this moment. A poem of the power of passion and seizing it when it’s here and not letting it get away. The driving energy and rhythm of this song remind of how your heart pounds hard when drawing near and embracing that special someone.
7. Dance Of Truth
One more love song about anticipation of being with that girl… you know, that girl… and what it will be like being with the one who is driving your passion.
8. The One That Got Away
I call this a man song about fishing and love and the silly but poignant parallel that occurred for me on one such trip.
9. Bad Day
Gets very well into the moodiness and frustration of when your having a Bad Day. When I wrote this song, it wasn’t actually so bad. It was more of an empathetic feeling for those of us whenever it's a tough, hard Bad Day.
10. One Last Thing
This song leaves us with this simple yet powerful spiritual question… What do you want your last way of being to look like?
Julia Harrell joins Edward once more on this CD with her masterful work on marimba and percussion. Blues guitar great, Garth Webber, is a great welcome addition to this project (All Alone with Me), as is the incomparable John Lee Sanders and Edward's daughter, Stacey Dee (a recording artist in her own right) singing back-up on two cuts.
Recorded at Red Rooster Studios in Berkeley, California for New Bridge Records and mastered at Capitol Records Hollywood by Mark Chalecki, this project is a production of superb quality.
This one will linger with you...
