ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Today Erik Grant Bennett, a musician and performer and producer who makes his living composing songs and scores, is filling the void left by his childhood idols, the rock piano legends of yesterday. A pianist himself, he writes songs that speak of life, love, loss, regret, joy, and triumph. "EGB taps into that which others are feeling, but cannot express themselves. He marries honest words with memorable melodies that will soon be hummed in showers across the globe," says Atlanta television producer, Jack English. Erik prides himself on being extremely versatile, writing in all styles, from rock and rap to orchestral, pop, and lately...even a little children's music!

It was not difficult to understand Erik's talent or interest in music. His father had trained from youth to be a concert pianist, and although his life had taken a different turn, he still played around town and taught piano in his time away from public school teaching. Therefore Erik got used to falling asleep and waking up to the rich melodies of Chopin, Brahms, and Rachmaninoff. Because his mother and sister, though not formally trained in music, are also each blessed with abundant natural musical ability, it was a fertile soil indeed. Despite Erik's early focus being on sports, he began to sing and act in talent shows and musicals throughout his school years. Lacking any formal training, at fifteen he began to spend his time in the chorus room after classes, picking out tunes on the piano by ear, and eventually coming up with one original song after another. Crowds of students would soon gather around in order to hear his latest work. Says his former chorus teacher, Mr. Williams, "Even back then he was a creative spark plug of energy and passion so intense that those around him could not help but be warmed by his presence." By his senior year, Erik had been in the All State Chorus all six years of eligibility, participated in the Governor's Honors Program (practically unheard of for a tenth grader), and had already been performing in rock bands and as a solo act. After only a few years of serious, albeit informal study, at the age of seventeen EGB earned a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. It was there that he added new instruments to his arsenal, while earning a degree in film scoring and refining his skills in a plethora of other areas of music.

Having lived and worked in LA the last several years, Erik is now back in hometown Atlanta, producing artists, composing, and performing. According to an Atlanta area newspaper, "With his southern charm and disarming wit, Erik is a natural, charismatic performer, connecting with audiences young and old." He has recently completed his sixth original touring musical and has his next pop/rock CD Signs of Life slated for release in 2004. For his label, HoneyBee Records, he produces such new artists as KC Cherie, Tyrone Houston, and Tiffany Clark. Erik has earned an Emmy nomination and has recently won first place in the USA Songwriting contest for an educational children's song he wrote for a company called Brainy Baby. Says the self-employed musician, "I get to wake up every day and work on music - not only that...I also get to constantly shift gears in terms of what projects I'm working on, so every day is truly an adventure. Who could ask for more?"

Very Talented Artist
Mr. Bennet is obviously a very talented person. When you listen to these songs you feel what he feels, and it's really inspiring to young artists such as myself. His songs are so honest that anyone can relate to them. He really paints a picture with his music and words, and that's hard to do. ROCK ON Mr. Eric, and good luck. Your music is refreshing compared to most of the garbage out there today.

Buy this CD. You will not regret it!
Powerful songwriting combined with creative production make this CD his finest to date and that is saying quite alot. Erik combines soulful vocals and virtuosic piano skills with masterful arrangement and production techniques. The result is a high energy CD that feeds both the mind and the heart. His endless quest for perfection is truly appreciated and inspiring to his fans and the musicians who are honored to play with him.

Great Songs! Great Music! Great Production!
Erik is the next great songwriter that you haven’t heard of yet. The songs on this CD will move you. From the powerful first cut titled Disappear to the tear jerking ballad Talk About the Weather, you will be compelled to share this music with everyone you know. Look for great things to happen to this young musician. Turn it up and enjoy!

Emotional Ride
At first listen I questioned the chosen order of the songs on this CD. I was introduced to an emotional roller coaster; anger desguised in an up-beat tempo, sadness and mourning, goose bumps of new love and honest questioning of the human state and events we all experience, in seemingly no order. Obviously Mr. Bennett's musical talents are broad, his tastes vary and his ablilities cross the gamut. Yet, he stays true to form. This CD does not bend to popular genre or "pop" fad. I sensed he enjoys performing every song on this CD. After a few listens I realized emotion and creativity do not come to us neatly packaged for public consumption. I enjoyed the ride this CD brought and look foward to the next.

among my favorite of all my many CDs
I have had this CD for about a year now and I still listen to it all the time. This is one of those rare CDs that I love from beginning to end. Talk About the Weather and Dying for a Change bring me to tears virtually every time I hear them, and The World Just Goes Away is so beautiful, I usually have to hit the repeat button on my CD player a few times. The song So Far is extremely catchy; I often find myself singing it in the shower, and there is something about No Man's Land that makes me want to belt out the background vocals every time. I could go on and on... This CD is incredible and out of my entire collection of over 200 CDs, this is one of the few that I reach for again and again and again. For those who enjoy QUALITY MUSIC that is TIMELESS, buy this CD.

Awesome CD
This CD is great. I listen to it all the time. Although I love all the songs on the CD, I think So Far is my favorite. The songs on this CD not only have very memorable melodies, but also contain meaningful and clever lyrics that often read like poetry.

Best CD I've ever bought!
Regardless of your mood, you will find something on this CD that speaks to you. Erik's voice is one of the best out there, and in every cut on this CD, his lyrics are meaningful and memorable. You will find yourself playing "These Scars Are Mine" again and again. Your greatest challenge will be to try and pick your favorite song. This CD is a winner all the way!

A CD THAT GETS BETTER & BETTER!
When I first listened to this CD, I thought that it was good, but the more I listened to it, the more I liked it. The songs are all so different and yet all of them seemed to speak to me and relate to my life on some level. The arrangements are fantastic and there seems to always be something more to discover each time I listen.
