Land Míns Föður (The Land of My Father) is Einar Scheving’s second solo album, following his highly acclaimed Cycles, for which Einar won an Icelandic Music Award in 2008. Land Míns Föður also won an IMA in 2012 and has not only been receiving rave reviews, but it has also been topping the sales charts in Iceland. The album is a tribute to Einar’s home country, as well as being a requiem for his father, Árni.
The music on the album is a mixture of Icelandic folk songs and Einar’s own originals. The album features some of Iceland’s foremost musicians as well as six of the country’s most notable singers. The six originals are set to poems written by some of Iceland’s most beloved poets, including Nobel-Prize Winner Halldór Laxness. All poems are translated to English in the liner notes, which also include Einar’s reflections on the music.
“Land Míns Föður is one of the most beautiful albums released in the Nordic countries in modern times. An album that captures Iceland's soul."
