Praise the Lord

by Edward J. Berry & Harmony

Featuring a 25-piece orchestra, Berry has created a new sound in Christian music, seemlessly blending the styles of gospel, jazz, latin, 70's soul and classical. Berry's music will bring tears to your eyes and joy to your heart.

Album Notes
Praise the Lord is the debut album for the young saxophonist, composer, arranger and producer, Edward Berry. It is unlike anything you've ever heard in gospel music.

Berry, a practicing attorney in Birmingham, Alabama, was inspired by the Lord to create a new sound in Christian music, focusing upon the beauty of the relationship between God and mankind. Berry's music honestly conveys this beauty.

Using only a pencil and score paper, a refreshingly archaic method of composing in this modern world of computer generated musical wizardry, Berry penned eight haunting arrangements of his favorite standards of the church and composed the title track of the CD, Praise the Lord.

A stellar 25-piece orchestra featuring the likes of Tommy Stewart ( Sonny Stitt, Johnny Taylor ) Jothan Callins
( Lionel Hampton, Sun Ra ) Cleve Eaton ( Count Basie, Ramsey Lewis) Rickey Powell (The Wiz) and Bo Berry
( The Commodores ) was assembled to interpret Berry's unique sound. This CD is most inspirational, memorable and worthy of the praise it is receiving in music circles. It will bring tears to your eyes and joy to your heart.

I am amazed at all of the talent that is heard on the cd. Surely anyone with any musical inclination can see that these arrangements are top flight and are by no means a replica of anything written to date. Thumbs Up to this band and its leader!
