they are misunderstood/keep these records coming
So many people are fast to name influences from other rock n' roll bands, when introduced to a The El Caminos recording. This would suggest them to be derivative, I believe they are leaders in music, though, contrary to the previous suggestion. I believe, upon closer analysis, the tunes defy categorization, more than most long-lasting bands can be credited to doing. While one tune on this record is reminiscent of Dead Kennedys, another of MC5, it is a mistake to categorize here, because it might be characteristic, but isn't defining, at all. There are just so many different tunes.
Most of the The El Caminos records have long track lists. They are akin to double albums. As a fan, I can focus on the first half of this album, and then the second half, later. The records still leave me wanting more records. This band is thick, rich in emotion. The feelings other bands of this quality fail to demonstrate through song can only come from many years of being together, not getting the acclaim other bands of equal (or lesser) talent garner, fuels the artistry. The frustration, the shinier side of a good day, blue-collar work, a song about the girl when you aren't wealthy, are there. Upon repeated hearing, this record is rich in subtext, and takes me as a listener on an almost uncomfortably long journey. At the end, I want to go on that ride again, though, and then another one.

Down but not out!
The El Caminos are the type of band that drives real rock fans crazy. Bands like these often wallow in virtual obscurity, forcing fans to wait forever between releases, because of independent budget "issues". And on top of that, their fans have to go around preaching their gospel, knowing that they have heard the real deal, while no one seems to give a sh*t.
Luckily, there are bands like this, rock n roll lifers, that are determined to spit into the wind.
Bands like the El Caminos keep rock alive by pushing the under current along. Even though their proverbial ship has long ago sunk.
"Raised by Wolves" is a vicious, focused attack on the indifference this band faces. It is a melodic, swaggering, desperate, and heartfelt statement of intent.
This is the kind of music you can only make when you've got nothin' to lose.
I recommend this highly. I love the music. And most of all, I respect it.
For whatever that is worth.......
