ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
El Grupo Cubano – Brisas del Palmar is the pride of Cuba—the land of music. This award winning traditional musical troupe, founded in 1999 in Santiago, Cuba, is the next generation to the musicians of the Buena Vista Social Club introduced by Ry Cooder. In 2005 these extraordinary musicians were chosen top quintet in Cuba. They are featured daily on Cuban national radio and recently performed for the Pope in Cuba. They played several winters in Havana’s iconic Bodeguita del Medio, the birthplace of the mojito and a favourite of Ernest Hemingway. Their traditional music is irresistible and inspires folks from 2 to 82 to get up and dance! This disc was recorded in Vancouver, Canada in 2012.
