Album Notes
Are you as ‘together’ as you thought you’d be at your age? I’m still not! These songs float to the surface of my daily life, which is often as storm-tossed as Peter’s Sea of Galilee. But at the Master’s call, each day anew,

“Just as I am...
I come, I come!”

May God meet you in all your broken places and turn your heart into a Harbor of Grace!

January 1st, 2014 UPDATE:
Yes, it's time for another album! Will this be the year? We'll see! In the meantime, "HARBOR OF GRACE" keeps touching lives and hearts, including mine.

1.”FAITHFUL”—God’s working on us, refining us for His purposes. Painful, but necessary! Worth it, even when it doesn’t seem so right now.
2. “BEATING OF MY HEART” --- Fear has us by the throat. “Scared of dying, scared of change, scared tomorrow will bring more grief and pain….but I got Jesus beating in my heart.”
3. “HARBOR OF GRACE” –“My life’s a hurricane, it’s always blowing me away. But as long as You are in this boat with me, there’s no safer place that I could be. You turn my heart into that peaceful place. A safe haven, a Harbor of Grace.”
4. “LOVE NEVER FAILS” ---After verse 1, it’s 1 Corinthians 13 word for word! And a beautiful wedding song, too.
5. “CREATED TO ADORE YOU”….”Because I love You”—a revelation to me, having grown up in church with tons of ‘should’ and ‘ought.’
6. “YOU ARE GOD”— Rocks! “In each crack and crevice of my unrepentant heart, in the high and mighty, in the blind and in the lame, in the backslid sinner who’s afraid he’ll never change, You are God, You alone!”
7. “QUIET NOW” –a moonlit Texas love song to a suffering wife. “Lay your head on my shoulder. Come, let me hold you close, and just be quiet now.”
8. “FATHER, FATHER,” …”for these times I don’t have the strength. How these days have stripped me to the core. Oh, Lord, whom have I in Heaven but Thee?” My 9-11 song.
9. “MAMA” –laundry snapping in the breeze on a crisp March morning, dandelions dancing underfoot in the brilliant green grass. ..."and how short was the path to the safety of your love and your welcoming arms, Mama!”
10. “HOLE IN THE WALL” –“the” definitive song about sexual abuse. “You stick a nail in the wall, you pull it out, the hole’s still there. Cover it up, fill it in, but it’s still there.”
(I was invited to sing this at the dedication of the only known monument to victims of sexual abuse on church property--that being St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Mendham NJ.)
11. “KEEP ME” –“So easily I stray; Keep me. My heart can turn away so quickly. Lord, I’m Yours, keep me true.” 12. “BACK HOME” –for me was Central Java, Indonesia. The music is country, but the details are tropical. Written months before the tsunami. “Where do you go when you can’t go back home?” As my drummer Mike says, “It’s a train song.”

Original CDBaby Release notes:
I'm so excited about my 2nd CD, "Harbor of Grace." Then we finished off things in Atlanta with Josh Davis and friends, and at Glenn Barratt's Morningstar Studios in Pennsylvania with Ruth Naomi Floyd.

Brent's melodies touch the soul
Brent Ellison is a superb songwriter who knows how to write a melody that touches the soul. With Harbor of Grace, Brent establishes himself as a versatile and talented songwriter, who is comfortable writing in multiple genres--including contemporary Christian, country pop, and musical theatre. Harbor of Grace is a perfect metaphor for the Christian faith and Brent is not afraid to open up and share the truth of his own personal spiritual journey. There is a soothing, peaceful quality to Brent's vocals and lyrics that grabs your heart and holds onto it. Harbor of Grace is definitely being played daily on my iPOD! I predict that this is just the beginning for Brent Ellison and I'm already looking forward to the next CD!

Myra Brooks-Turner

From the first moments of Faithful through Back Home, Brent takes us on a journey celebrating God's goodness. His sensitive but powerful texts and musical gifts accomplish the mission of having God meet each of us in our broken places to turn our hearts into a Harbor of Grace.

Pete Carter

"Joy and sorrow deeply mingled!"
This CD not only expresses the joy of worshipping God but also takes you through the journey of getting there. It contains not vague reference to struggles, but addresses them head on. Our paths in life are often not what we'd hoped they'd be, but seeing how God has sustained us by His Grace-that's where the praise comes from. And the musical diversity is cool too! Thanks for sharing your humbled heart.

This is more than just contemporary Christian music
Not being a big fan of that genre, I was hesitant about giving a listen. What a totally pleasant surprise!! Mr. Ellison has captured his sensitivity, honesty, humility and positive outlook in very cool music and incredible lyrics. Thanks very much and best wishes... Peace.

Great Music
Brent man, this CD is absolutely GREAT!! The words, the vocals, the tunes, the arrangements, everything about it is fantastic!! Although I really like all the songs, the first time I heard Harbor of Grace, Love Never Fails, Created to Adore You, Hole in the Wall, and Back Home I immediately "connected" with those songs. Keep up the good work.

Steve Pinkston

Lyrical Grace doesn't come much better than this.
Brent, I am amazed in how far you have come. When we set out to do this CD, you sent a batch of songs that had me crying and excited at the same time to get in and record them. My 7 year old still asks for 'his' song (Beating of my Heart) everytime he rides with me in my truck. Can't wait to do it again!

Micah Beck

A man with a million life experiences and a heart to share them.
Brents lyrics come from a rich life experience of southern heritage while living in Indonesia and attending university in central Texas. His music is colorful and deep as he shares his life experience of blessing and trauma along the way. Brent shares his soul as it is; a bitter-sweet blend of his faith, coping in the real world. His songs are honest and moving. Brents message is one of hope when we put our trust in the Father of grace. I feel the pain in his music as well as his optimism and gentle spirit. To know Brent and hear this music, is to know Gods Grace. Well done my life-long friend and brother in the faith. You are amazing.

His love and devotion to God is so evident
This multi-talented musician is easy to listen to; his music is fresh, full of depth and meaning, honest, mellow. His love and devotion to God is so evident. Go, Brent!

Thoughtful, provocative lyrics - melodic masterpieces from a sensitive soul
Brent Ellison is a masterful lyricist and tunesmith. His music keeps getting better and better and "Harbor" certainly cements his standing as an artist that is easy on the ear, provocative to the mind, and soothing to the soul. This project has a diverse musical palette and high production value, but - at the core - it's Brent's sensitivity and ability to observe life, report from the front lines and transmit truth that makes this project one that you would hit "import all" on your iTunes. Do your soul a favor, get this cd.
