ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Emilya, coming from a musical family, was first taught the violin by her mother, Pamela Wainwright. As her talent progressed, she started lessons with longest serving leader of the Hallé orchestra, Martin Milner. Whilst studying with Martin, Emilya performed V.Monti's Czardas and Massenet's Meditation from Thaïs at the age of 9 in both the Royal Northern College of Music and the Bridgewater Hall.

Also at the age of 9, Emilya aquired professional status as leader of the family quartet, the Spring Quartet, taking of the lead in arrangements of many standard concertos and solos.

By the age of 11, Emilya had performed Beethoven's Romance in F and by 14 she had performed the Kablesky violin concerto with full orchestral backing with guidance from Catherine Yates after Martin sadly passed away.

Emilya's latest achievements have included aquiring a BMus with Hons from the Royal Northern College of Music. Whilst studying, Emilya set out to challenge the stereotypical view of violin performance, wanting to jazz it up a bit. This originally took place in the creation of Ponticello Duo with sister, Penny, using up beat backing tracks on electric violins.

Emilya has recently been adding new features to Classics, using in house arranger and father, David Wainwright. David and Emilya now work together to produce a combination of new and old sounds. Latest work has included unaccompanied violin duets, played by one violinist, Emilya!

Emilya still performs with both the Spring Quartet and Ponticello Duo, but has now branched out to perform solo unaccompanied or with backing track on acoustic violin, electric violin and saxophone.
