Ashrei is Ephy Greene\'s first album. It is 12 songs based on Jewish themes, with lyrics generally taken from Jewish prayers, the Bible, or along Jewish philosophical themes. The music of Ashrei is fresh, exciting, and moving. With a mix of hard rock, folk rock, beautiful harmonies, acoustic numbers, and symphonic sounds, Ashrei as an album reflects the deep but meaningful symphony of Jewish music.
Ephy Greene is a teacher of Jewish studies and has used his music to move the hearts and souls of dozens of young Jews in his classrooms, concerts, and kumzitzs. His musical style is varied and touches on folk rock, classic rock, acapella-like harmonies, alternative, and other styles. The soul of the music really comes through in Ephy\'s heartfelt singing.
Most of the music on the CD is arranged, produced, and performed by Danny Shatzkes, an up and coming Engineer and Musician who is very professional in his work and already in high demand for studio work, as well as larger consulting projects.
The message of Ashrei is an important one. It is not that music is a form of entertainment, but rather a venue for serving the Divine. Music moves the soul, and the soul is meant to be happy. Music is the tool to make that happen. By focusing in on the emotion within the song, it is possible to be inspired and climb to higher levels of spirituality. Ashrei means we are lucky. Indeed, we are lucky. Ashrei.
