ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Expertly performed and arranged ensemble songs and instrumentals with several acoustic blues thrown in for variety. These guitar-driven tunes show Madis' roots in the 1970s Chicago blues scene, as well as his jazz and Southern rock influences. The acoustic, Piedmont/ragtime guitar tunes are based strongly in rural blues tradition, but reflect influences from urban blues, jazz and Hawaiian slack key. Madis' well-known bottleneck slide playing appears throughout, often paired with acoustic or electric guitar. Most notable are vocal performances, which are the finest to be found on any of Madis' recordings.
