Grace is the oldest of our 4 children. She graduated high school in 2012. She began experiencing abdominal pain at the end of June and underwent 2 weeks of testing at The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Ga. Six weeks later, she was back in the hospital. On August 24, 2012 doctors removed a 10-pound tumor from her abdomen and 60% of her stomach.
Grace has been diagnosed with a pediatric unclassified sarcoma, a very rare and aggressive type of connective tissue cancer found in children and young adults.
Grace remains positive and upbeat following her diagnosis. For her Facebook status, she posted, "Dear Cancer, I'm not the only one battling you. I have a whole army of friends, family, and the power of God standing with me. And we are stronger than you. Game Over :)
Grace received her 1st round of chemo treatment Wednesday, October 3rd, and her 6th round on January 28th, 2013. Because of the type of cancer she is fighting and the level of care needed, she is receiving treatment at the M.D. Anderson Clinic in Houston, TX; however, she has been allowed to receive her 5th and 6th treatments closer to home.
Grace continues to have a smile on her face and remains ever confident in receiving her miraculous healing. Grace is grateful to all who are praying for and standing with her in faith.
The video (which can be seen on YouTube or Facebook under Eric and Laura Smith) heralds her amazing smile and positive attitude throughout this journey of battling cancer. This peek inside her life testifies she is no "victim" but rather the "Victor'!
Thanks to all of our family and friends for providing the inspiration that keeps us battling strong.
And thank you for singing along and joining with us as we proclaim Live, Little Girl, Live!!!
God Bless You!!
