Steve Kornicki

Contemporary Classical for Violin
Erik Carlson's new release is a blend of various contemporary classical for violin. Especially striking is Carlson's "Four Pieces for Eights Strings" with the outer movements reminding one of the dense, microtonal cluster sustenance of Phill Niblock. The middle movements convey a conceptually minimalist atmosphere. Great recording and choice of music!
