ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Estrella combines the earthiness of country queen Celina Gonzalez with the elegance of Guillermo Portabales and the relaxed phrasing and swing of Issac Delgado - however, she likes to do this in the context of a powerful musical statement, aided by a group of Europe based Cuban virtuosos, who know just how to make this music swing the right way.

Estrella Acosta (vocals), Carlos Irarragorri (tres, guitar, vocals), Armando Vidal (percussion, vocals), Jorge Martinez Galán (piano, vocals), Pedro Luis Pardo (bass), Liber Torriente (percussion), Joe Rivera (trumpet), Mark Alban Lotz (flute), Jan Luc van Eendenburg (percussion), Beatriz Aguiar, Sandra Mirabal, Hernando Vanin (backing vocals).
Arrangements by Jesus Hernandez Corona, Rey Ugarte, Jorge Martinez Galán, Pedro Luis Pardo.

“...a happy transatlantic party that takes off and soars!”
Luis Tamargo, Latin Beat Magazine, USA. 2006

"Estrella's singing is clear and without frills, the coros sound right to the point and the arrangements provide ample space for the musicians to shine. The percussion by Liber Torriente and Armando Vidal is always on target, Carlos Irarragorri's tres twinkles vividly, and trumpeter Joe Rivera and flautist Mark Alban Lotz play excellent solos. Those who like an honest meal on their plate, rather than fancy morsels and insipid hypes, should check Estrella out."
NRC Handelsblad, The Netherlands

"...Excellent Cuban music that is fun to listen and dance to, and where the traditional and the contemporary are very well combined and balanced. Congratulations! "
Juanito Marquez (composer/arranger, producer for Gloria Estefan)

I loved it!
When I play this CD I end up dancing around the house. Acosta did a fantastic job. Her voice expresses the passion she clearly feels for her music. I have bought CDs for gifts, and all my friends have been highly impressed.
