SKA, no really, this band doesn't deny it. Great Laid-back mix of Trad ska with midwestern pop ska. lots of keys and very little distortion. Gadjits meet Hepcat.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Trapdoor Records, the label that brought you the Wiskansin Compilation presents another one of the best and brightest in Wiskansin SKA, "the Exhibitionitst".

These youngsters from Appleton, WI are a ska band to the core.

To put it simply, more than one member of this band owns a Vespa.

This self-titled release contains great horn lines on both vocal songs and instrumentals.

Even if you don't like trad ska check out this CD it's a pleaser.

Amazing trad ska with a unique blend
Man this Cd rocks! I really dig the sound and i've been trying to get my friends to check it out.
I dont know if you guys are still a band but if so, me and some friends run a little site called www.MNska.com we're an upstart site dedicated to local scene in minnesota and surrounding areas. Down Beat

It just clings
All I hear when this cd playing is the clinging of the beat, sound, and heart of this music to my ears. This album has variety of tempos and dancing tunes. The first night I had gotten it, I put it in right away. As I did the bong rips this music was perfect for the exhaling of the smoke. The second night I had this cd I played it at my schools radio station. I had a lot of calls for song November First. Just a great overall first release from a group of artists that just cling their sound together.

Killer tunes Bro!
Let me tell you something about ska and punk music...there's a lot of junk out there, that sells. This isn't junk. These boys are wonderful at their instruments for being so young, and Riester's and Bjella's song-writing is incredibly mature. Listeners of all types of music would enjoy this CD (even Bach?!?).

Ohhh, boys give me some more
Unbelievable, are these guys really that young? Are they really from Wisconsin?I was blown away by the sound these young Wisconsiners have.I have not heard such a fresh, original ska sound for a long time! This alblum has it all.It really gets my mojo going.I wish I lived closer,so I could catch them live.It is a really emotional alblum that leaves me saying:ohhh, boys please give me some more...

Y'know when you have a craving...
Y'know when you have a craving and you aren't really sure what it is you really want? Well this is it. Its an emotional craving. Something you can pick up anytime of the day and listen to whether you want to get happy or youre ready to tone it down a bit. One of those cd's you can listen to all the way through... and then listen again. Leaves nothing to be desired except the atmosphere of seeing them live.

Excellent.
Saw them live when they opened for Reel Big Fish, saw them tonight at a library. Excellent live, even better on record. They have the maturity of a group thats played for 10 years despite their average age of about 18. Pretty special stuff.

just bought cd
just bought this cd strangely enough at their first summer concert. I really like it a lot...the songs are very catchy but not poppy and the trumpet player is cute so I guess thats all a band needs. highly recommended.

Rude to the Bone
The Exhibitionists have mastered a form of ska music that sounds like nothing else i've heard before. That's what blows me away about this album, so many young bands tend to stay on a narrow path, whearas The Exhibitionists have paved their own path, playing everything from trad to ska-funk. A truly refreshing experience- not to mention Rude to the Bone

Only ska for categories sake.
I must confess, the invitation of hearing another ska band could never keep my attention, much less cause me to buy a ska album. So lets forget about categorie, because this Exhibionists album is incredible. Eventhough the root of their music is ska, each song is carefully constructed and contains a multitude of styles that is never ecclectic, but totally natural. Their music leaves you confused, yet satisfied. Did I hear a ska band? Who cares! What I did hear freed my ears and left me naked.
