Before there was an Exousia, there was a yearning for the Spirit of the Lord to
descend upon the worship services at Rivers under the Pastorate of Pastor
Vanessa M. Brown. The Praise Team began on Easter Sunday in April of 2007.
There was no choir, only a handful of worshipers who were singers
that also worked professionally in the Entertainment industry.
Rivers became known loosely as the Fellowship church where the artists attend. Being
sensitive to the needs and concerns of those members within the body who were
artists, having worked with performers for many years while serving as one of
the Producers at Harlem’s famous Apollo Theatre, Pastor Vanessa insisted that
music become an integral part of the worship service.
Exousia is defined as the ability or strength with which one is endued,
which he either possesses or exercises: the power of authority (influence) and of right (privilege).
Pastor Vanessa Brown hopes that after you listen to Exousia that you will realize the power in you through God’s
divine presence and go forth to exercise it.
