ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
First Lady Assassins formed in 2006 in a basement. Armed with a bottle of whiskey FLA recorded our first demos that year with our friend Ryan Wallace of Armstrong Recording, created a myspace site, and began playing shows in the local circuit. We were accepted to Dfest (Tulsa's local and regional music conference) in 2007 and again in 2008 which have featured The Flaming Lips, Shiny Toy Guns, All American Rejects, Paramore and more. FLA has also shared the stage with bands like VoodooGlowSkulls, Left Alone, Meg and Dia, Hopesfall, and others. In 2007 we began the process of recording our first full length album, which was released May 31st 2008 in our hometown Tulsa OK to packed crowd of 200+ fans and friends. The self-titled debut album was recorded by Engineer/Producer Stephen Egerton (guitarist of Descendents and ALL) and Engineer Ryan Wallace at Armstrong Recording co. in Tulsa OK and mastered at the Blasting Room in Colorado. Since the official release FLA has been hitting the midwest, touring hard, and will continue to do so mercilessly for years to come!

If you find Bad Religion a little too serious and NOFX not quite serious enough, these Oklahoma punks have carved out some middle ground for you. If their name wasn't enough of a patently-offensive/obviously-a-joke mix to begin with, the 11 songs here offer up a variety pack of sincerity ("History of Failure," "Grey is the New Black") and nutty fun ("Less Punk Than You," "Pills") that not only reflects on their versatility as a band, but also, thankfully, proves that while they're not afraid to take themselves seriously, they are wary of taking themselves TOO seriously. While the subject matter and feel of the tracks vary here quite a bit, so do the length and composition. With the shortest song being under a minute and a half, and the longest almost hitting six minutes, it's great to see a band playing this kind of music who doesn't seem preoccupied with any sort of formula. Wasn't that the point of punk in the first place?
