Album Notes
Since 2002, two men have been turning heads and catching ears all over the country with their energetic anthems and soulful ballads. But even after capturing the heart of a city as musically diverse as Nashville, TN, Alex Florez and Erik Huffman are showing no signs of slowing down.

Enter FLOREZ. a seamless merge of two distinct voices and personalities over a backdrop of driving guitar. The combination produces a fresh, saucy vibe, laced with enough charm to excuse a comparison of women to rabid puppies. Erik lays groundwork with a smooth bass heartbeat and solid background vocals, while Alex stirs the audience with spirited guitar licks and singing in English, French, and Spanish. FLOREZ combines solid musicianship with vocal charisma, giving voice to the kind of groovy, pop-rock you’d expect from these handsome boys next door.

Drawing influence from the power and emotion of Maroon 5, the quirky energy of Jason Mraz, and the raw simplicity of Gavin DeGraw (whom they opened for in 2005), FLOREZ has found their niche in the form of tangy, groove-driven rock. Lyrically, FLOREZ runs like an inner monologue: reflective and unapologetically candid. Their songwriting transforms snapshots of life into catchy melodies which leaves audiences humming along before they ever set foot outside a venue.

Alex and Erik met in 1999 as students at South Carolina’s Furman University. Since that time, the band has produced three full-length albums and two EP’s. They have consistently performed engaging and heartfelt performances and earned a myriad of fiercely loyal fans at venues all along the East coast.

In August 2007, Erik took a brief hiatus from the band to compete on the CBS series “Survivor: China”. After spending 33 days in the wilderness of Southeast China and finishing only three tribal councils short of a million dollars, Erik returned home to Nashville with celebrity status and – thanks to his red FLOREZ baseball cap – a brand new set of fans in tow.

In July FLOREZ released their latest EP, Not Alone, a follow-up to the more acoustic Yellow Shoes EP released in December 2007. However, FLOREZ is on the road and “Coming To You” this Fall before heading back to the studio to begin work on full-length album.

* Erik Huffman featured as a contestant on CBS Series “Survivor: China”
* Fall 2006 “Natalie” (In Flight, 2005) first heard on the NBC hit television
show “Scrubs”
* Winner of the 2005 Ice House “Battle for the Boat” Contest.
* April 2005 FLOREZ signed a major co-publishing deal with BMG Songs
* Shared stages with Gavin DeGraw, Will Hoge, Talib Kweli, Amos Lee, Robert
Randolph, Josh Kelley, Sister Hazel, Better than Ezra, Martin Sexton, Virginia
Coalition, and Matt Wertz.

One that you will listen to over and over...
Captivating and uplifting. One that you will listen to over and over. This CD puts the meaning back into music without losing the talent behind it. It is one that will inspire and liven with it's charasmatic rhythms, lyrics, and honesty. Highly enjoyable! Good job!

This band has a sound all to itself. The acoustic guitar and occasional banjo work very well together, and the lyrics are thoughtful and backed by solid vocals. Hold Me Down especially is an amazing song. Worth every penny. Get this album!

The CD is great, live is better
This CD rocks. They take you everywhere - rocky, bluesy, country, even almost hip-hop and the songs are even better when you hear em in person! I love the mix of some latin grooves in there too. Check out the hidden track!

an awesome cd. hold me down is a soon to be hit, and may rain is just beautiful. have seen them live twice and they are amazing. great album.

AWESOME but dated
I just bought the CD this past month (Feb 2004), and I'm certainly wowed. A fantastic first album - but in truth it doesn't present an accurate sampling of Florez's musical genius. I've seen them live twice, and every time have been blown away by their daring combinations of classical spanish guitar, bluegrass twang, and straight up face rocking intensity. Their music has evolved greatly since this album - even the CD tracks they perform are strikingly different from the recorded version. Leaves me wanting a new (live?) CD in the near (read: very near) future!

This CD was truely a wonderful addition to my collection.
After burning all of my Dixie Chicks CDs, I needed another disc to fill their spot. I was moved and amazified by this group's music and how they supported me through out the war in Iraq.

YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING. The music is stellar, and live they are INCREDIBLE. Buy this CD- and make sure you listen for the hidden last track. The boys are really hot too.

Refreshing new music that gets better each time I listen
This CD is certainly one of the most interesting and refreshing I've heard in a while. Unlike some new CDs — that get old the more I listen to them — this one has captured my attention, making me only want to hear it more each time. I would highly recommend this CD to all your listeners; it's a must-have!

H Yeah!!
La date dominum is my favorite song. i wish it were on the cd...oh well. they're best song is "Everything" but it isnt on the cd.it is suposed to be on their next one. i havent actually heard the cd but dusty emerick rocks my world!

A group of talented musicians make such beautiful music...
This CD consists of more songs that you can relate to than i've experienced in buying a CD in a long time. I don't think it maters how old you are because you could be 17 or 71 and relate to this music some how. These artists express so many amazing feelings throughout their musical tunes and I enjoy listening to them with my ears.
