ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This CD is a major part of the FWSO's 2012 Centennial Celebration. It celebrates one of the orchestra's unique projects, the composers-in-residence program begun in 2006. Each composer serves for one year and the orchestra performs several of his or her works throughout the year on the main symphonic series, letting our audience explore in depth the art of symphonic composition.

The partnerships have been exciting on many levels. John B Hedges, for instance; worked with local middle schools on their own musical compositions. Jennifer Higdon won a Pulitzer Prize in Music during the year she served as the Fort Worth Symphony's composer-in-residence (and honoree, Kevin Puts, later won the same prize for his first opera). We're proud of our commitment to new music and to these rewarding collaborations with outstanding artists of our time.
