Album Notes
My original plan was to release a "Best Of" CD but it just didn't come together quite the way I wanted it to so I decided to do an "unplugged" live CD. This CD, to me, is by far the most organic and raw project I've ever done as I'm not afraid to take chances. I've decided to take this chance with my LA based trio and record a CD with no production (2 track mix -no multi tracking), no overdubs (just a few edits), no backing vocals, no bells and no whistles. Instead, I welcome the mistakes, the voice cracks, the wrong notes on piano, microphone squeals and anything else that can go wrong in concert. The personnel is Robert Miller on drums, Anthony Crawford on bass and yours truly on vocal, acoustic and Rhodes pianos, and a Korg M50. As a lot of today's music is extremely "polished" and "clean" we're losing a lot of the feeling and emotion that we (or at least I) once felt in the music of the '60's and '70's. My goal is to bring humanity back to music. To describe this CD I would have to say it's a cross between "Donny Hathaway Live" and Herbie Hancock's live CD "Flood" as these were the two projects that inspired and encouraged me to record this CD. Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it!
Frank McComb.
