Robin On a Pig's Back

by Freddie and the Hoares

Robin on a Pig's Back is packed with a young troubadour's lyricism whose songs start with a Johnny Flynn-esque whisper and end in a tear-down-the-house force of nature akin to Bruce Springsteen's early impassioned folkier days.

Album Notes
We loved it when retailer/distributor and 'champions of the indie scene' Rough Trade decided to carry our music in their stores. We know digital is where it's at but to have your music sold in a real record store gives us an amazing confidence boost. They choose one or two submission from close to 200 per month. that's a lot of rejection so we're grateful to be on the opposite side of the coin. Here is how they described our music and you know what...were sticking to this!

6 track debut ep in slipcase. 'robin on a pig's back' is the brainchild of barnstorming wonderkid freddie hoare. a young troubadour able to begin a song with a johnny flynn-esque whisper and end it in a tear-down-the-house force of nature akin to bruce springsteen during his early impassioned folkier days. backed by a stellar cast of supporting musicians playing accordion, bass, violin, freddie and the hoares manages to take a style steeped in tradition - a sort of cross-pollinated anglo-american folk music - and inject the vim of youth and vigour into its veins to produce something vital and invigorating. a surprising and astonishing debut.
