ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Lucidia is the third album by Garland of Hours, a band led by cellist, keyboardist, and vocalist Amy Domingues, whose songwriting reveals influences as varied as 70s British folk-rock, medieval modality, and indie rock sensibility. With references to Renaissance ballads, and even a solo piece for the archaic viola da gamba, Lucidia reflects the fruition of Domingues' recent work in historical music performance of 16th-18th centuries as a graduate student at the Peabody Conservatory. Combined with the edgy punk aesthetic of her earlier band Telegraph Melts, and cameos on albums by Bob Mould, Fugazi, Ted Leo, and Jets to Brazil, Domingues' latest effort mixes ancient and modern influences to glorious effect. Mary Timony (Helium, Wild Flag) contributes guitar on several tracks.
