Tim Kinsella

Nice fusion soundscapes; relaxing and very musical composition and improvisation
This album is deeply musical, if occasionally affected; there is a hint of the sort of contrived emotion of smooth jazz in the melodic themes, but only here and there. For the most part, the compositions' structures, as well as the improvisational ideas, are cohesive, flowing and very sophisticated. Garrison's bass playing itself is best when he is accompanying the guitarist; he proves himself a knowledgeable theoretician and excellent listener by using astute substitutions and hip, Pastorian counterpoint.

matt's fresh approach to music
Good price for CD and DVD combo package. Matt's style of playing and his compositions were fresh and really show what all the hype is about Matt Garrison. Some are hard to digest on the first round and may not be recommendable for those who are looking for an easy-listening soft jazz type CD. The overall production quality and the layout of the DVD can be improved quite a bit but not disappointing considering it's his private production, and it's his first trial for DVD.

Buy it. you won't be sorry.
This C.D. reminds me of why I fell in love with instrumental music back in the 70's. It was because of musical pioneers like John Mclaughlin, Stanley Clarke,
David Sancious, Brand X, Happy The Man, Weather Report (the list could go on and on...).
Does anybody remember music that makes you happy because it is MELODIC and has great hooks and yet is sophisticated enough to want to listen to it over and over and still want to hear it again?
Well here it is. I hope Matt Garrison and all the creative people involved in this project experience the success they deserve.
Hugs and Kisses-Matt Chizmo.
