Album Notes
Le QuecumBar’s stage was the perfect setting and catalyst: bringing together four outstanding Gypsy Swing musicians, performing as The Gary Potter Quartet for the first time. This unique and exciting experience culminated in a thrilling live performance led by guitar genius Gary Potter, the UK’s foremost Gypsy Swing guitarist and valued QuecumBar patron. Gary’s virtuosity and versatility are brilliantly displayed here, with superb support from the power-packed rhythm section of Kevin Nolan and Ducato Piotrowski on rhythm guitar and Andy Crowdy on bass. Gary’s playing and interpretation constantly deliver musical magic, complimented by the solid pumping support of a confident, sensitive and creative rhythm section. This album perfectly replicates the atmosphere, energy and the great synergy between the fabulous four in a setting specifically designed for heart pumping Gypsy Swing.

Gary Potter: Solo guitar. Gary is regarded as one of the world’s greatest jazz and country guitarists, enjoying high acclaim in the USA, Australia and Europe. Melodic, lyrical and imaginative with perfect rhythmic sense, Gary has an original approach to playing Gypsy Swing guitar that is unmistakably his own. His talent, his enthusiasm and his visible joy of playing inspires his audiences and makes this album really swing!

Kevin Nolan: Rhythm guitar. Considered one of the world’s top Gypsy Swing rhythm guitarists, Kevin honed his skills alongside his brother in The Robin Nolan Trio, playing such renowned jazz festivals as Montreal and Samois-sur-Seine. Having moved to San Francisco, Kevin was asked by the one and only John Jorgenson to join his quintet for his recent European

Ducato Piotrowski: Rhythm guitar. A Rom Gypsy and one of the UK’s top rhythm guitarists of this genre, Ducato has played with such legendary Gypsy guitarists as Moreno and Matcho Winterstein. A powerhouse of rhythm, he is also a consummate soloist with an authentic style that is influenced by the great Tchavolo Schmitt.

Andy Crowdy: Double bass. Andy is one of the UK’s top bass players, and has performed with some of the world’s greatest Gypsy Swing guitarists, including Lollo Meier and Angelo DeBarre. His incredible driving rhythm is combined with a lyrical musicality, the two fusing perfectly in his inventive solos.

Django would be quite Proud!!
Gary is maybe the most inventive player in this genre. Every tune, intense and you never know whats coming...he may not be a purist in the style and might slip a in a Chet lick or two, but there is NEVER a dull moment. The production of this live recording are also fantastic...GARY PLEASE COME TO THE STATES!!!!!!
