ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
After a spiritual awakening in 2009, gash gold vermilion (g2v) founder Robyne Lau Bridgman recognized the need to make music to fulfill a major soul purpose. In time and with study, she came to understand that she channeled some of her music from a place of music at a higher frequency that she learned to open her mind to. Robyne's old soul mate and long time friend, Renee Hooper became the first to work with Robyne, assisting as a guest vocalist. Soon after, Robyne's church mate, Kim Bay, joined g2v on guitars and vocals. Within a year and a half, gash gold vermilion’s line up was completed with the addition of Lucie Snead on drums and Robyne’s daughter, Mary, on bass. Angela Philastre Atkinson, another old soul co-traveler, shares her wealth of vocal talent as a special guest with the band. Robyne’s youngest, H.M. Abigail, contributed her talent as well, playing wind chimes on “Fear Ages.” Bryan Bridgman, veteran metal guitarist and bassist, lends his talent providing writing and bass support.

Gash gold vermilion blends progressive, folk, metal, pop, alternative and punk influences to manifest its unique and inspiring sound. Their debut album features an unusual collection of tracks, most of which songwriter Robyne Lau Bridgman channeled. From the sweet folk-style simplicity of Loose & Happy and xoxo to the rich intellectually-constructed progressive sound of Fear Ages and Perfecting, the songs on Compos Mentis present a cohesive yet varied musical experience.
