God has promised that our walls shall be called Salvation and our Gates Praise – Isaiah 60:18b.
In 2010, The First Church of the Open Bible, Trinidad, West Indies launched it’s first “Gates Praise” production with a Live CD & DVD recording – CHANGE. This popular gospel album is featured weekly on local radio stations with hits such like “Great Jehovah”, “Till my Change Comes”, “Audience of One” and “New Impressions”. It was also featured as Band of the Week! in the internationally renowned UK Gospel Publication – M.E.X magazine.
Now, in 2012, the upward journey continues with this new album “Hope of Nations”, an expression of hope in Jesus Christ that does not make us ashamed. As a church, “First Church” knows the power of God to restore and rebuild the broken and hopeless. Our history is one of rebuilding with only eight foundational members in 1983 to a dynamic, transforming, community of care with over 4500 members today. From humble beginnings, a new breed of worshippers was born, that sings songs of Deliverance, Praise and Worship to the unfailing and faithful God.
“Our testimony has been “The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation”. Psalm 118:14. “Now we speak to nations through this album to put their hope and trust in God who is able to heal, restore and deliver amidst very dark and perilous times,” says Rev. Cecil Quamina and the leadership behind this project.
As such another epic world standard album is being birthed through “Hope of Nations” to expand and strengthen the church’s influence through Praise & Worship with many talented musicians, singers, dancers and others in the area of the performing arts. This group has led worship for many Caribbean and International conferences featuring, Fred Hammond, Dr. Creflo Dollar, Dr. Myles Munroe, Dr. Cindy Trimm and others.
The HOPE OF NATIONS album has 12 tracks with a rich combination of genres that includes alternative, zouk, pop, funk, reggae, jazz and gospel. Together they produce a unique flavour and sound of the Caribbean representative of our diverse culture and ethnicity. Of course, the indigenous steel pan is included in this musical product mix.
