Album Notes
In an age when rock and roll morphs into a hybrid world of colorful new sounds, The Geckos form a rainbow, opening minds and hearts and inspiring the sun to shine just a little brighter. Each artist chooses their inspirations and in doing so brings forth a new sound, a fresh sonic perspective. The Geckos musical landscape incorporates Caribbean classic steel drum rhythms, New Orleans gumbo groove and a deep soulful solution which can, at various times, soothe like warm tropical rain or slightly sting like real life tears. For the music aficionado, here you'll discover original musical lines crisscrossing, echoing with the voices of Wes Montgomery, Van Morrison, Peter Tosh and The Talbot Brothers of Bermuda. Band-built tenor, bass, alto and cello steel drums mingle with an array of acoustic and electric guitars, resurrected vintage keyboards and bass in a world of original compositions. The songs on this new collection "rise up" from the realm of the "Hyper Striper" into the heavens just above the "Big Sky" under the stars which form the "Chesapeake's Crown." The many voices that resonate throughout this collection of 14 songs leap forth from a broad community of superbly talented regional musicians brought together in a classic circle of friends, cross-pollinating in a unique and unified Gecko patios. The message: "Meet Me On the Water" massaged by "Warm Winds" for a sumptuous sharing of "Shrimp & Rice." "What's Your Heart Say?" -Michael Buckley of WRNR

smooth and slick like the filling in a french chocolate silk pie
A good party/ upbeat cd, sets the mood so you have to have fun. No doubt even a bad day would have a nice twist at it's end with the listening of this cd. The type of music that makes you speed in your car. Get it and enjoy it.

only once before have I been so thouroughly satisfied by purchasing an album because of the cover art. This cd is genious, it takes your spirit on a wonderful ride, these boys must be living right, Rising Up From below has become my #1 Road trip cd of all time! The kids know every word.

CD Baby

This isn't your usual limp and cliche island pop. Wrapping in reggae, ska, pop, folk rock and R&B, the Gecko's put a new face on Caribbean poprock. With vocals and echoes of Paul Simon, a casual, kicked back attitude like Jimmy Buffett and reggae influences from Bob Marley, they even manage to weave in some Americana into a most delicious, stratified mix of styles, textures and feelings. The songs sing with steel drums done well and used sparingly in a way that raises the bar on all future island-born rock to come.

Have seen this band play live, and listened to their music on CD. I am amazed by the level of relaxation they evoke, as well as the feeling of utter unadulterated joy!

Sheer Genius!

A very pleasant surprise from a random purchase
This CD is really good, with a feeling of ensemble musicianship and one of the most feelgood vibes I've heard in a long time. You can really sense the fun these guys have making music and it is really a beutiful album to listen too, very summer, very laid back, and capable of really improving your day.
