ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
James is also an actor who has 40 stage plays, 20 TV shows, and a dozen commercials to his credit. Ask Him who his favorite singers are and he'll ask you how much time you have. Starting with Joe Williams, Sammy Davis, Jr., Oscar Brown,Jr., Lou Rawls, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Shirley Bassey, Diane Schuur, and Nancy Wilson the list would very quickly grow to a mile in length.

TENDER AND BLUE, James' debut CD, is a blend of Jazz and Blues reminiscent of Joe Williams and Sammy Davis, Jr., lightly sprinkled with the wit of Oscar Brown, Jr. in, what some would say is, an "old school" recording like those of the 50's and 60's. Instrumentation is limited to the traditional 3-piece Jazz Combo, and a Saxophone is added to a few select songs. This small group affords each musician the necessary "elbow room" to display his exceptional musicianship. Joining James in this first effort are: Eddie Olivieri on Piano, Jack LeCompte on drums, Michael Saucier & Kevin O'Neal on Acoustic Bass, and Michael J. Parlett on Saxophone.
TENDER AND BLUE was recorded at the Harddrive Analog and Digital recording studio in NOHO, California, where it was mixed by Doug Messenger and James Geralden. It was mastered by the famous Bernie Grundman of Hollywood, CA.

Tender and blue - Classic standards in excellence!
What a pleasure it was for me to have the opportunity to appear on this album on sax.

James is a true gifted talent and deserves the recognition that goes along with being an outstanding singer and performer.

This album is a serious rendition of some of the great songs of our time performed with the heart and soul James is known for.

Highly recommended!!

"What a voice, the musicians with him are absolutely great!"

This wonderful release opens with James’ piano trio gliding along on a tight, light little groove. Suddenly James appears singing, ‘Whether I'm right, or whether I’m wrong” with a swing feel that the trio immediately adopts with him. It's almost as though the trio was waiting for James to take the stage in a live setting in all his swinging glory! If you like jazz and the blues this album will delight you. There are also silky-smooth ballads, with a thick and lush reverb enveloping James’ voice (which is a gorgeous instrument as wide as it is deep). Throw in little-known numbers such as “The Comeback” and “Hazel’s Hips” and you’ve got one slammin’ CD! If you're skeptical about my words, listen to one of the two-minutes samples on the left, offered as an MP3 file. You won't be disappointed!! Whether you buy this CD right now or add one song at a time, your collection is not complete without this fabulous debut release.

Wow! Your voice moves with the soft, silky sounds reminiscent of Tony Bennett, the sexy rumble of Joe Williams with enough of your own charisma and style to place your stamp firmly on these wonderful standards. Very nice voice....I want to hear more from you......and Marilyn is the one to keep your nose to the grindstone....in a good way.....need address info so we can get a full copy of this.....2 minute teasers...well, it just makes you want to hear more.

Awesome CD! James has a fantastic voice! The quality of his voice is at least equal to the great iconic singers. His choice of tunes really shows off his range. His phrasing draws you in and keeps you listening over and over again. Oh yeah, and that musicians are awesome too! I am looking forward to his next CD!
