Dry Fig Trees

by Gerard Satamian

Armenian Impressionistic/Romantic style original works. "The most beautiful music I have ever heard !" To a composer, such a statement is the ultimate compliment. And yet, that was said to Gerard Satamian about his works, more than once. Just listen...

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Composer (Magnatune Artist), pianist, opera singer Gerard Satamian is the recipient of a grant from Socan ( Society of Authors and Composers of Canada ). Here is what their magazine wrote about "Dry Fig Trees" ( named after a gorgeous painting by Vartan Tashdjian ):
" The two works featured on this CD are clearly of a Middle Eastern flavor, notable for their modal scales and often mournful, nostalgic mood. Gerard Satamian, who was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, has lived in Vancouver since 1989, following a few years' stay in Los Angeles. His nine 'Chansons Sans Paroles' are lovingly played by clarinetist Francois Houle with the composer at the piano, while Satamian is on his own in two excerpts from his 'Suite Lyrique'. Warm, approachable and innocent music ".
