Album Notes
"LIVE FROM TEXAS!" is Ghoultown's fourth release on Angry Planet Records. This is a 2-DISC SET featuring the 15-song audio CD + a DVD containing a 50-minute concert and promotional videos for "Fistful of Demons" and "Killer In Texas". The DVD is Code Free (Region 0), so it will play in all standard DVD players.

"I couldn’t wait to get this new double live CD set blasting into the earphones. I’m now an even bigger fan. Ghoultown sounds fantastic live!"
- Neo Zine

"The sound quality is downright spectacular."
- Under the Volcano

"After only a few tunes, it was like I had been a fan of these guys for years. Creepy Punk with an authentic western twang is a strange beast indeed, but it works far better than one would ever imagine. Songs like "Man With No Name", "Dia De Los Muertos", and the previously unreleased "Gunfight at Red Sands" are simply stunning."
- Urotsukidoji's Pad

The devilishly eclectic Ghoultown have thrilled, marauded and rocked their way across the nation for over a decade. Born in Texas and fronted by the infamous Count Lyle, Ghoultown is home to the most talented band of deviants this side of hell. Boasting collaborations with Chris Telkes (Nocturne) and Sara Lee Lucas (Marilyn Manson), their tracks are described by Synergy Magazine as "the ultimate embodiment of tequila drinking hillbilly rock". The band's sixth studio effort, LIFE AFTER SUNDOWN, proves to be their most ambitious material to date. The album is a unique mix of horror rock, punk-twang and spaghetti western flair. Think of it this way--if Rob Zombie and Johnny Cash were tossed into a meat packer, Ghoultown is what would come out the other side.

Ghoultown’s musical alchemy has attracted a wide range of dedicated fans and caught the attention of the entertainment industry. Their singles have amassed over 30,000 downloads, earning the band national radio play, global licensing deals and even a nod in the award-winning Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines video game. Featured on over a dozen independent and studio film soundtracks, Ghoultown even possessed the director of American Nightmare to rearrange the script and include a band performance after witnessing them play live. Always on the move, they are also fixture at major entertainment conventions including Spooky Empire, Dragon*Con and Texas Frightmare Weekend.

Ghoultown's raucous, decadent and high-octane live performances have garnered a loyal nationwide fanbase opening for the likes of Hank III, The Misfits, and Gorgeous Frankenstein. After conquering the Texas live circuit, the band took their act on the road. From New York's infamous CBGBs to Bar Sinister in Los Angeles, no saloon or concert hall is safe. Their influence and popularity has bleed into Europe, with a European tour in the works for early 2010.

In addition to the success of LIFE AFTER SUNDOWN and SKELETON COWBOYS - their latest single on Zoviet Records - Ghoultown was recently invited to write and perform a new theme song for iconic horror maven, Elvira. The star-studded tribute was recently released as the MISTRESS OF THE DARK ultra-single, complete with a DVD featuring the music video by director Gris Grimly and an audio CD of new songs including “Mistress of the Dark” and remixes. Hailed as pioneers of hellbilly rock, Ghoultown continues to make hearts race and skin crawl on their pursuit to turn the music world upside down--one soul at a time.

Ghoultown was a great band and a great bunch of guys. The cd and dvd capture th
GHOULTOWN is awesome! The loss of Ghoultown is undescribable, however their music and vision will live on. My band, The Gravetones, had the great pleasure of opening up for Ghoultown the last 2 times they played Chicago. Seeing them live was what made me a fan. I now have all their albums and a great live dvd to boot! For those of you who never got to see Ghoultown live, your loss - for those of you who "didnt make it out" - its your fault their gone. I at least live in Chicago, which is nowhere near where they normally play. They rocked Chicago twice and was about to do it a third time but cancelled. Ghoultown will be missed however the music lives and dvd is a great ending of a great vision. Rock on.

Powerful Live Document
Ghoultown are an uncompromising, truly original and energetic, darkly passionate unit of consumate musicians. That said, they're quite diverse in their musical influences and have managed to cobble together a powerfully unique musical style from elements like Mexican mariachi, classic western, King Diamond-style traditional heavy metal and the darker side of punk rock - say, Misfits... with a strong helping of the sinister songsmithy of Johnny Cash.

This is one of the most perfectly recorded live shows I've ever heard or seen - and it's perfectly live. This is not an overdub studio creation. They're just that damn good'n'rowdy. If you like collecting live shows, you'll never need a bootleg of these guys - should you actually find one - because you've got this album right here.

If you've never heard this band, and you're wondering what to buy, and can connect with anything I've written here, you owe it to yourself to just take the risk to buy this CD. I bought it already being a fan, but I can tell you that this is fine, fine music - it's like the best Tequila an undead outlaw gunslinger can find.

Strap on your guns, walk through those swingin' doors, ignore the bodies hangin' up front by the window and mosey on up to th'bar, gents and ladies. Getchyer GHOULTOWN.

Pick up their other stuff available here, too, it's damn good. You'll smell gunpowder and blood and desert and sweat once you're halfway through one of these, I promise!

hotter than peppers.
As a listener of music, I had never thought that much that such groups not too well known to the press as well as to teh common music scene would still be around.
but that itself was before i happened on this band after getting curious and hearing the song on their site one night.
I got the cd, gave it a listen, and got hooked more faster in a lot of different ways.
they are spirited in playing, firey, lively, and also quite full of energy.
the music is as well done as it is also quite intense.
I must say that this cd is also quite amazing to say the least.
Here is wishing that this band comes back from teh unknown in case there are other cds that they do.
and please come back gentlemen, we NEED you.

This definetly lives up to Ghoultowns big reputation in Texas. I saw them live in Austin and this DVD/Cd combo is definetly worth the money.

buy or die!
Now THIS is what independent music is all about, or should be about at any rate. Ghoultown are an upcoming band from Dallas, releasing records on their own label and doing it all in true DIY style. And by releasing a CD/DVD package like this, they prove how much they care about their fans. It is NOT expensive to produce a CD. It is NOT expensive to produce a DVD. It is NOT necessary to sell each separately for 20 bucks apiece, which is what the major labels do. THANK YOU, Ghoultown, for being fair and kind to the consumer. This is an amazing package, with a really great live set presented in both audio and visual formats. The DVD is my favorite part, because the band is captivating to watch live. I sure hope they come up here to Reno someday! The DVD also has two video clips which will definitely appeal to real underground horror movie freaks. The Killer In Texas clip is as disturbing as anything on the Necrophagia home video, and those who've seen that will know what I mean. Live From Texas! is true value for your money from a band that obviously cares about its fans. Let's see more bands get off their duffs and give us something this good!

They're great on record, but killer live!
No holds barred rock-n-roll with an evil western twist. The sound of this band playing live is a joy to hear (and see, thanks to the DVD included!). They rip through a great set of songs, never losing momentum and building to the ultimate climax.

If you like metal with a little country....HAIL Ghoultown
After hearing the singles from Ghoultown, I needed the album. What to choose?? The latest, hopefully best (Live From Texas). Believe it. Never heard any Ghoultown albums??? This gives you not the best, but maybe the greatest of their line up yet thus far. All should pick up this album.

Banditos Forever!!!
Ghoultown is going to go down as one of the great unsung legends of music. Their unique style, insightful songs, and infectious energy come across beautifully in this live album/DVD combo. I'll be forever grateful I was able to catch them live here in Chicago (PS: The Gravetones rock some serious ass too -- thanks for helping bring 'em up here, guys!). I hope someday they'll find their way back from the grave, but 'till then this bandito's gonna carry the coffin all the way in their memory!

Live: Like they should be!
Kick-ass tunes and plenty of them! Great live disc and sweet DVD of the same show. The bonus videos are rough but entertaining and you get to see the Ghoultown Cowgirls in action! Listening to the videos and then the live show you can hear that, like Louisiana's Dash Rip Rock, the studio recordings don't capture the true sound of the band. This is a LIVE band!!
