Album Notes
A girl, a guitar, and a yellow hat...

Girl in the Yellow Hat is a one-woman band with an army of support surrounding her. Her songs are simple truths set to tunes: sweet, honest, and unexpectedly witty. Reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, and other songstresses of that era, Girl in the Yellow Hat is a new voice with an old soul.

On this, her debut album, her folk-inspired songs are musically enhanced by Rachel Smith (cello), Ashley Buckley (violin), Linda Carr (French Horn), Briana Carr (Glockenspiel), Josie Merlino (piano), as well as percussion by Justin Carr and Derek Carr.

To & Fro is a journey of back and forth, in and out, up and down. The songs revolve around one theme: love. Though Girl in the Yellow Hat's songwriting journey began out of heartbreak, not all of the songs are about romantic love. That heartbreak merely jumpstarted a fascination with love, which then led to many, many songs exploring the subject. Some of the songs embrace happiness, others battle pain, but within every note, there lies heart-felt truth and raw, unaltered honesty.
