ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Gypsy Jazz is a true synthesis of the music of today.

It is the pulse of life, combining Jazz, Latin and Brazilian rythms with beautiful soulful melodies.

The music is interpreted by some of today's top musicians, and 6 tracks feature the wonderful guitar of Al Viola.

Chris Glik composed most of these songs while on tour in various parts of the world. For instance, Tudo Bem was inspired by the wonderful nature of the Brazilian people in Sao Paulo and Rio De Janiero. Cold War Blues was written while on tour in Europe before the "Cold War" was over. Soldiers perched in towers with ready machine guns aimed to keep people from crossing the wall inspired this tune. Frostbite was written while on the same tour, but in Belgium, where it was freezing cold in March. Rwanda was inspired by the children of Rwanda crying out against injustice. Visionaire and Re:Nuances were both tunes written at the New Year several years in the nineties. Journey To Ixtlan was inspired by Carlos Castanada's book of the same name. Trane Ride is a musical tribute to John Coltrane. Enjoy these tunes and the rest on the cd.

The musicians - Chris met Mike Flick, the bassist, while on tour in Brazil. Some of the tunes feature Mike soloing. Kenny Park, drumset and latin percussion, gives life to each song with his wonderful sense of time and space. George Harper, a saxophone master, weaves wonderful lines masterfully on Soprano and Tenor Saxophones. Dave Victorino is heard on flute and tenor saxophones creating wonderful improvisations. Finally, Al Viola gives his special wonderful interpretations on guitar.

Performing in the Los Angeles area, "Chris Glik & Gypsy Jazz" is lead by Westchester resident Chris Glik.
The group's album of jazzy tunes could be the perfect background music for a variety of occasions.
Carried by Glik's adept piano playing, the band's light and pleasant music showcases the talents of each musician while remaining well within the realm of good taste.
Touches of Latin and Brazilian flavors add playful toe-tapping elements to tht group's smooth-jazz vibe.

Members of Gypsy jazz include Chris Glik on piano, Ken Park - drums, latin percussion, Mike Flick - bass, Dave Victorino - saxophone/flute, George Harper - saxophones, and Al Viola - guitar.

A~GYPSY JAZZ FEAST-TOO BIG TO EAT IT ALL IN ONE BYTE!
Boy, is this one fantastic recording. I was delighted to hear how tight the band sounded. I can't wait to hear this wonderful group live in Los Angeles-time to come out and play guys! I wonder how this group could be talked into squeezing out a few dates so the rest of the story can be told! The melodies that ooze out my speakers are fantastically exciting. I want to get up and dance every time I hear a different song from this c.d.. I think this band has really got it goin' on-and SHOULD BE HEARD MORE OFTEN ON THE RADIO. I am very happy when I hear this music, and I think it will make you that way too!
Tell Me, are these guys a natural - or what?
DON'T WALK(Don't even Sprint) R U N Out & BUY THIS ONE! GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!!
