Album Notes
Hits from the 50'sand 60's - Original Hits, Original Artists

Continuing the incredible GOLDISC Records From The Vault Series

This brand new release includes songs never released on CD before and presented here for the first time in Digital format.

This release starts off with the up-tempo “Tight Skirt And Sweater” by The Versatones. This is the flip side of Bila. Major plays on R & B radio.

From the Carlton records vault, Tommy Frederick & The Hi Notes “Prince Of Players” Carlton’s first release and an East Coast favorite.

“Snap Your Fingers” by Joe Henderson, a national hit from the Todd records vault featured his great baritone on a medium tempo Country / Blues flavored song. First time available in any format since the initial release.

Back into the Carlton vault we found Morry Williams & The Kids great ballad “Oh Louise”.

The Five Stars with their up-tempo and rocking “Pickin’ On The Wrong Chicken” change the pace for all the dancers here. Another East Coast winner!

Back into Carlton, The Royal Holidays‘ “I’m Sorry (I Did You Wrong)” A regional ballad hit.

Into the Diamond vault, The Passions up-tempo version of the standard “Sixteen Candles” featuring the great Jimmy Gallagher on lead with this rocking version, a rare gem.

Back into Carlton, the bubbling under recording “Trying” by The Paramounts features a soaring violin centered orchestra backed with strong lead vocals on this great record.

Changing the pace again, The Imaginations from New York City and their iconic up-tempo song “Guardian Angel” rocks out in fine fashion.

Closing out this album is a rare group gem from The Excels singing “Til You Were Gone” a beautiful ballad that played well all over the US.

Production Note: All sources are from the original session master tapes recorded at that time.
