ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Gondor is the culmination of the 2011-2012 University of Akron Jazz Fusion ensemble led by drummer and University of Akron adjunct professor Mark Gonder.

Gondor performs an eclectic mix of original compositions and original arrangements that encompass a wide variety of styles; from rock to swing, from avant garde and free improvisation to righteous funk grooves. The group was started to provide an outlet for budding jazz electric bassoonist Tom Breadon, and employed the artistic and compositional talents or guitarist Dave Hammer, keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist Joe Leaman, and bassist Mike Forfia; under the guidance and direction of veteran drummer extraordinaire Mark Gonder.

Recorded at arguably the most progressive and artistic venue in Northeast Ohio, Live At The Spot is representative of the abundant creativity and diversity throughout Akron and NE Ohio's music scene.

Album art by Heidi M. Rolf, photography by Cyndee Duhon, background art by Jamie Janish.

Recorded, mixed and mastered by John A. Bradshaw and Charles Klein at Jabasco productions on March 16th, 2012 on location at The Spot in Akron Ohio. Funded through a grant from The University of Akron School of Music; with special thanks to Jack Schantz and Dr. Ann Usher.
