ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
GRAND WAZOO : Australia's "Kings of Soul" is a legendary 13 piece Soul Orchestra, with an unsurpassed record for presenting the finest, most entertaining and authentic Soul Music experience in Australia, continuously, since 1981. The band performs Afro-American soul gems, hits and some Grand WaZoo band originals in that same brassy, big-soul style. Also a premium reading band, the outfit can back any local or international visiting artist, in the vein of the Funk Bros.

Australia’s "Ambassador of Soul", JOHN MONTESANTE, a renowned Musician, founded Grand WaZoo in 1981, with a view to exposing the Australian public to an artform about which he was passionate—and the band has performed continuously since. Montesante’s talent as a world-respected Arranger has been a key factor in Grand Wazoo’s musical excellence and longevity, with all 300+ tunes performed by the band, especially orchestrated by him.
GRAND WAZOO's Gigs over more than 30 years have varied from Media Appearances and Concerts, to Festivals, Corporate Showcases to Major Events, to Club & Pub Residencies, to backing Sam & Dave and performing with the Wilson Pickett Band, to the Hong Kong 2000 Millennium and more.... Many of the who’s who of Australian music have been nurtured by, performed with, or been backed by this band, at some time in their career.
Fronted by 3 Lead Singers, (who also back one another), a permanent 6 piece Horn Section and 4 Rhythm players, the Grand WaZoo ‘Soul Extravaganza' comprises 2 x 1 hour sets with interval and encore, although the Band is flexible for Festivals, Special Events and Media Appearances & has mastered the art of adapting to various sized spaces.
GRAND WAZOO-KINGS of SOUL also released a 'LIVE - one take' album in 2008, titled 'SOUL MONSTER-LIVE' , which celebrated an 11 year weekly residency at The Rainbow, and is also available through CD Baby. There are plans for another album in 2013

Grand WaZoo - when only the "best" will do!
