ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Recent Press:
“...Red, Red Rose is an old fashioned lament played out in a haze of guitar and distortion. It takes an ancient form and dresses it in the cloths of the Seattle scene – with all its noise and hurt – and creates a new living and breathing entity." - Andrew Hamilton, Clare People, Ireland

"...(The Red, Red Rose is) is, in a word, haunting, recalling vintage Sandy Denny-era Fairport Convention as envisioned through a dark psychedelic lens - and we defy anyone not to feel a lump in the throat when Kelly gets to the lines, "One January afternoon/ They killed you in your school clothes." - Fred Mills, Blurt

Poison in the Russian Room...
**** - All Music Guide

"Poison in the Russian Room is a slow burn of beauty and the kind of record that lures and compels the listener to hear one more song, and then the next, until it is over." - Pop Matters

The Complete Book of Hours…
“Two and a half decades on, it proves as enchanting as ever, a groundbreaking effort that makes for a welcome return.” - Lee Zimmerman - Blurt

The Green Pajamas formed in the spring of 1984 when Jeff Kelly and Joe Ross recorded and released their first album, Summer Of Lust, pioneering Seattle's answer to the Los Angeles Paisley Underground scene. "The Pajamas somehow manage to sound like holding two kaleidoscopes side by side and using them as binoculars to see the future of rock'n'roll" wrote Phil McMullen in Bucketful Of Brains [July 1987]. The band rose to college radio fame in the mid 1980s with the 7" record Kim The Waitress, and, over the last 22 years, has released numerous albums on many labels including Green Monkey, Bomp!, Camera Obscura and Get Hip.

Their most recent album is Poison In The Russian Room on Hidden Agenda Records, voted one of top 100 records of the year by The London Times. The Green Pajamas' current lineup includes founding members Kelly and Ross (on guitar and bass respectively), longtime stalwart Eric Lichter (keyboard), Laura Weller (guitar) and Scott Vanderpool (drums).

Though its focus has always been on recording, the band has often performed in its home town and at the Terrastock festivals in San Francisco, London, Providence and Seattle, as well as in Austin, Boston, Vancouver and other cities.

The Green Pajamas, whose long run and prolific output have earned them the title, "legendary" from The Seattle Post Intelligencer, have several recording projects and a possible tour in the works for 2010.
