ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
OH MY GOD! THEY KILLED KENNY G !!THOSE BASTARDS !@%*#$

What happens when you put together the intensity of rock, the soulful groove of funk and the sophisticated
smoothness of jazz? GROOVE ASSAULT (formerly Vas Deferens)that's what happens.
With a live show that generates enough raw energy to give
the electric company the night off, this band is bringing
instrumental live music to a new level. No elevator music
here folks, it's a rare find to experience an instrumental band who will have you humming their melodies and feeling their enormous groove long after they've made sweet love to your ears and soul.
GROOVE ASSAULT's fearless leader and guitarist Jimmy Prav
has put together his entire pool of influences. He has played everything from Be-bop to Thrash metal, and when it comes to playing, writing and arranging for his band he's not afraid to use any of it; one review called them "Parliament meets Black Sabbath at Miles Davis' house".
Jimmy has recruited some of his best musician friends, Brian Crook on tenor sax Deji Coker on alto sax, Andrew Paulsen and Colin Bridgestock on trumpets, Andrei Sebastian on bass and Gideon Grossman on drums. Together these seven New York City sultans of groove are stirring up a scene that has been long starving for a band like this. The bands first full length CD "The Good the Bad and the Filthy" has eight tracks that indulges everything from straight funk to ska-punk to soul and heavy-metal. Since their first gig in June 2000 their mailing list and fan base has
been steadily growing and the clubs just can't book
them enough! So keep your eyes ears and soul open for GROOVE ASSAULT!

very shagadelic!!
Now this is da bomb!! The cd has got it all, jazz, metal, groove, and some bad ass riffs!! The writing is pure genious. This is one of those cd's you can listen to over and over and not get bored....

peter cooper

george clinton art blakey and dave mustaine's wet dream!
first of all the rhythum section is like an anchor that can't be lifted for shit!(which is a good thing by the way). the horns are complementing each other beautyfully, and the guitar is as diverse and proficient as anything you might lay ears on.

Deed The Weed

this is sensational, sensual, and most def awesome stuff
This cd has it all, groove, style, power, and you can dance to it! Definitely gets ya goin, and craving more and more.....Can't wait to hear what is next! Totally exhilerating!

Crooner on Steroids

These guys dock it, rock it and put some money in their pockets.
If you think there is nothing new in the world of music you obviously have not heard or seen VAS DEFERENS. Not since Miles Davis has there been an innovative mixture of styles. Davis did not incorporate rock this heavy in his music. That is the difference.
