Grupo Milenio was created the summer of 2000 by the father & son duo, Edwin \"Eddie\" & Edwin \"Nepy\" Maldonado. They decided to create a band with some of the best musicians & vocalist in the NJ/PA area. They called upon musicians that they performed with in the past and even took some of them out of retirement. Once they got the musicians & vocalist they wanted, they brainstormed for the perfect name to represent this talented bunch. In 2006 they decided to expand the band with a horn section. Milenio now consists of Piano, Bass, Tres Guitar, Full Percussion, Trombones, Sax/Flute & Vocals. The musicians in the band has performed with world-renowned artist such as: Frankie Negron, Marvin Santiago, Giro, Tempo Dominicano, La Tuna de San Juan, Willie Moreno, AJ, Stephen Tirpak, Brenda K. Starr, Miosotis, Mambo Orchestra, LNG, John Legend, Will Smith & others. They play some of the best Salsa & Latin Jazz cover tunes from Hector Lavoe, Celia Cruz, Frankie Ruiz, Luis \"Perico\" Ortiz, Los Adoblescentes, Eddie Santiago, Juan Luis Guerra, Gilberto Santarosa and many more. The production has 9 original salsa tracks...All styles of salsa! The producer and arranger to all the tracks is the groups\' musical director Edwin \"Nepy\" Maldonado Jr. & Co-arranger and Trombonist -The Legendary - Charlie Garcia. Milenio has proven to be one of the best groups in the tri-state area. They\'ve performed in outdoor festivals, parades, nite clubs, dances, banquets, fund-raisers & private events ( Quinceañeros, Sweet 16\'s, Weddings, Birthday parties, etc). Milenio has made their presence known in NJ -Trenton, Vineland, Woodbridge, Cranbury, Hamilton, Lakewood, Jersey City, Freehold, Ewing, Edison, Princeton, Cranbury & New Brunswick; PA - Morrisville, Croydon, Bristol, Lancaster, Reading, Philadelphia, York, Harrisburg, Steelton & Trevose; Staten Island, NY. They released a two song single for the 9/11 tragedies titled, \"Mi America\", which was distributed by Milenio and played on radio stations in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Florida, Texas, NYC, NJ, PA & Germany. They have opened up for mainstream artists such as: Kevin Ceballo, Ray Sepulveda, Johnny Ray, Joseph Portes \"El Gato\", Double Filo, Manikomnio, Frank Reyes, Willie Moreno, Jimmy Bosch, Herman Olivera, Paquito Guzman & Larry White (Just to name a few).
